Tomo No Kai, roughly translating into 'circle of friends', was established on the campus of University of California, Irvine in 1977. We are a cultural and social club that explore the Japanese and Japanese-American cultures. We embody inclusivity and provide an environment where one can find their second home and build everlasting bonds.

Originally named "Tomo No Taiko" (meaning "association of taiko"), Jodaiko's origins lie in UCI's Japanese-American student group, Tomo No Kai (meaning "association of friends"); it is often referred to as Tomo No Kai's sister group. Mar 07, 2019 · UCI’s Tomo No Kai Japanese Club hosted a “Paint the Past” event on Feb. 19 with two guest speakers, Hatsuko Mary Higuchi and Marlene Shigekawa.
